Exodus 40:9 (BBE) And take the holy oil and put it on the House and everything in it, and make it and everything in it holy:
In the Old Covenant, Moses was instructed to build a tabernacle for God. This was so God would have a place to dwell among them (Ex.25:8). In the New Covenant, we are His dwelling place (2 Cor. 6:16), so He can Dwell with us. In the Old Covenant, Israel was to anoint the temple regularly.
The oil was to bless the tabernacle and make it holy. So how do we gather oil for ourselves and be blessed and holy? We simply ask for it.
As many of you know, I took on a new career as a truck driver a while back. As a newbie, I still have many skills to perfect, such as parking a trailer, and shifting gears through the mountains. Whenever I am faced with a difficult parking challenge, I always take a moment and ask God to anoint me to do it. Since so much of my driving is in the mountains, I ask Him for His anointing to drive the mountains every day I drive. I know without God's help, I could not even breathe. I also know that with God's anointing---nothing is impossible.
Virtually every morning when I begin my day, I ask God for His anointing. I specifically ask for an anointing of wisdom, knowledge and faith, an anointing to heal, perform miracles and prophesy, and I ask for an anointing to discern, pray in tongues, and intrepet tongues---the nine gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor. 12:8-10). Throughout my day, I ask Him to anoint me for any specific challenge I find before me.
God has given us many tools to defeat the enemy in our lives, but He has also given us the tools to live an above average life. I really encourage you to take advantage of all that God paid for on the cross. The more we rely on God, the more He can work, in us, and through us, to make the world a better place.
Ask for the anointing daily and make God attractive to a world that needs Him.
