Numbers 6:22-27 (NLT), Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’ Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”
Last Sunday in church a friend asked me to pray for their son. That night when I prayed, not knowing any specifics, I prayed in the Spirit and asked God for a word to share with my friend. The next morning I received a wonderful word and it was a good one for me too.
The Bible tells us in Revelation 1:6 (NLT), "He [Jesus] has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father." Just as Aaron and his sons were made Priests in the Old Testament, born-again believers of the New Testament are made Priests. What goes for Aaron and his sons, goes for the New Testament believer. The Scripture at the top ends with a wonderful promise. When we bless the people of our family, God Himself will bless them.
The instructions at the top were quite specific. This is something we need to do as priests. Declare this blessing over your children regularly. If they are not saved, do it in private. Speak these words into their life and you will release the power of God over them.
Isaiah 65:23 (NLT) gives us another promise. It says, "They [God's children] will not work in vain, and their children will not be doomed to misfortune. For they are people blessed by the Lord, and their children, too, will be blessed." Release the blessing and see God work in the lives of your children.
